  5. To extend the TX (RX is already extended) do the following:
  6.  
  7. 1) Remove the 4 screws that hold the back cover of the unit on.
  8.  
  9. 2) CAREFULLY pry the case apart (It's helps to remove the VFO/Mem/etc 
  10. knob first)
  11.  
  12. 3) On the FRONT portion (DTMF Pad) of the case, in the upper right-hand 
  13. corner you will see a BLUE wire. Cut that carefully.
  14.  
  15. 4) Reassemble the unit.
  16.  
  17. 5) While holding the FUNC key, press POWER to reset the unit.
  18.  
  19. 6) Viola! You know have extended TX!
  20.

  29.  But in g5e you can extend TX/RX just by doing this (you dont have to
  30. open the radio):

  32. a) Keylock your radio (Func 0)
  33. b) Press Func #212
  34.  
  35.  It will appear on the screen:

  37.  Open
  38.  
  39. Now you have:
  40.  
  41. VHF
  42. RX: 108Mhz - 174Mhz
  43. TX: 130Mhz - 174Mhz
  44.  
  45. UHF
  46. RX: 400Mhz - 512Mhz
  47. TX: 400Mhz - 512Mhz
  48.  
  49. On the right VFO 
  50. RX: 800Mhz - 1000Mhz
  51.  
  52.  In VHF or UHF you can receive in AM just by pressing Func 6
  53.  
  54. To close te radio use the same procedure:
  55. a) Keylock your radio (Func 0)
  56. b) Press Func #212
  57.  
  58. it will appear on the screen:
  59.  
  60.  closed
  61.  
  62.  
  63.  
  64. -------------------Channel mode---------------------

  66. You can put your radio in channel mode:

  68. a) Keylock your radio (Func 0)
  69. b) Press Func #986

  71. It will appear on the screen Ch 1
  72. This channel is M1.
  73. If you have M100 then you will have 100 channels
  74.  
  75. To put the radio in "normal" mode just press:
  76. Func *284

  90.  It seems there is no way of changing it just by turning the knob or
  91. pressing the keypad.
